A cloud of dust.
This product came in terrible packaging. The original Honda box had been opened and then re-taped. Inside the pads had rubbed against each other so that a cloud of dust emerged as I opened the box. If I had purchased these locally and brought them home then, yes, the packaging would have been OK. But to go through the USPS, the result was terrible. Why not take a few minutes and wrap a piece of paper around each pad so it doesn't look like someone just threw then in the box?

Works as good or better than the OEM part.
This looks like the OEM part, fits like the OEM part and works like the OEM part (or maybe better). I received the part quickly. It was packaged well and arrived undamaged. I installed the part the same day it arrived and I've been using it ever since with no problems. I have 3 acres that I trim periodically, and so far this part has not failed.

Here are the issues I had with this rebuild kit.
Here are the issues I have with this rebuild kit.
1. The bolt collar on the spindle for this kit is made with the same materials as the rest of the spindle, aluminum. Aluminum is great for resisting rust but is a much 'softer' metal than steel. The OEM spindle had a steel bolt collar for holding the spindle in place. One of the three spindles I received had one of four holes in the bolt collar malformed. This meant that the bolt would go in but would not tighten. I tried a different bolt and it was the same result. I ended up putting in a bolt and then adding a nut on the other side of the collar, for this spindle.
2. The spindles were not pre-greased, and there was no information in the package to tell me that it needed to be greased. After 20 squirts of marine grade grease into each spindle, I began to see the grease come out the bushing. For those people who just install the spindle without greasing it first, they have greatly reduced the life of the spindle, as soon as they engage the cutter.
3. The blades that came with the kit had no instructions about which side was up or down. So I installed them the same as my previous mulching blades, only to observe the 'teeth' of these blades were exactly even with the bottom of the metal on my deck mower. after looking at them compared to my previous mulching blades, I see that the blades are built fairly flat, with the teeth protruding down. Whereas the previous mulching blades I had, were built in such a way that the teeth were even with blades when installed. The end result is that I can not lower the deck as much as I would normally, because these blades are cutting lower than the previous ones.
