Good read!
This is a well written book with an interesting story to tell. I had never known that the Channel Islands were occupied by the Germans in WW2. The author uses an unusual format as the entire book is a series of letters written between a woman writing a story about the islands and the people on the island. It seems a difficult contrivance and one would think that it would lack a lot that makes a novel work, but the author did an excellent job. The characters were unique and heart warming. My entire book club enjoyed the book immensely.

Fantastic!
What a fantastic book!! Often I have found books that describe a method, but then fail to show appropriate pictures, or offer examples of its implementation. This book has 15 different surface techniques featured. For each one, there are clear pictures and description of how to achieve the result, but then there are several photos of pieces where this technique was used. The examples were of different difficulty levels, so any jeweler would find it useful. Well done!

Not that helpful
With a title like this one and a cover that boasts, "more than 100 ways" to combat bullying among children, I really expected more concrete help. As an elementary school teacher I was able to see the things the author was describing, but felt the book was really just a survey of other literature on the subject with very little new or useful insight. I would not recommend the book and am still looking for something better.
