the 980 is the best and last minidisc you can buy!
21 of 22 found this helpful Well this is a gem of a mchine. Sadly the last high end machine built by sony as they stopped producing the slow selling machines. I think it was poor marketing in the early days that lead to the demise of the format and the very restrictive Serial Mangement Copy System (SMCS). If you can get over that, this machine is the one you should be aiming for.
It is bult like a brick and has a very good quality feel to it. It has all the usual features of minidisc like move, divide tracks, combine tracks etc. It has a two line display so that when you are playing a fully titled minidisc, it can display both the artist and the name of the track. It has a keybard ps/2 input so it make titling discs a synch. The sound of the unit is fab, you cannot tell one bit that you are listening to a compressed sources, even when using the more compressed long play system. This unit has a 'net MD' feature to so that you can connect the minidisc to a PC and download your tracks onto minidisc is quick time. I have had my unit for about 6 months now. I have not been able to afford one until then but I have not regretted it one bit. If you love minidisc, this is the machine to aspire to. If you can, buy one now!!!

Great drive for cctv abs digital video recorder
Great hard drive. It's not fast so don't buy this if you need a fast drive. Perfect replacement for a ocr which needs a new hard drive. I gave mine sat in a Sony hdd/dvd recorder.
