It doesn't slide smoothly
I gave the whistle two stars because the basic tone and range are good and I thought the construction is solid. But I think that the term "orchestral slide whistle" is quite misleading and I speak as a symphonic pops conductor and trombonist. The instrument cannot produce a SMOOTH glissando. I even tried putting slide oil and slide cream on the moving part and it didn't help. I bought the Acme Slide Whistle sold by Steve Weiss Music instead. That whistle is smaller but with the same range (a little over an octave) and produces a smooth glissando both ascending and descending. And it also has an attractive timbre. I think it is also somewhat less expensive.
