Hard to accept
0 of 1 found this helpful I can't recommend this book nor not recommend it. I found it distasteful the way Matthew Shepard was portrayed in such a way, especially since the writer never once sited his work, proved where he found his information, only gave some names from some interviews. Then the last page he dropped a huge bombshell about Matthew Shepard, that honestly I found cruel. What he wrote about McKinney and Henderson, was much more "respectable"....he made them out to be human, to feel some empathy towards them, especially in regards to Henderson. I can't say I regret reading the book....but I gained no respect for the author. I have no doubt that drugs did play a part in the murder but to trash someone's name and reputation who no longer can defend himself isn't journaling, I find it more gossip. Remember, he spent 13 years researching for this book but not once sited or stated where he found his information...nothing from the trails or police records. So when it came down to all his "research" where did he get it from or was it just all hearsay and gossip?
