Great lens. Great shots. Heavy.
4 of 6 found this helpful This is still the best lens for Nikon in the 70-200mm range. Now there are some great third party lenses where you can still get a great product and save yourself lots of money, but this is the type of lens that can last for as long as you do photography and then some.
This is my heaviest lens thus far and will likely remain my heaviest lens so it takes getting used to. Don't think you will be carrying this around your neck for hours on a shoot.

Great beginner camera and beyond
The Nikon D40 is great if you want to try your hand at real photography or you just want better pictures than what your point and shoot is capable of. The LCD screen actually shows you what you are doing and removes a lot of the guess work. At first I was interested in the D40x but this may actually be a better camera mainly due to the lower cost and the fact that no one really needs 10 megapixels. There is no wireless flash capability but you can buy a flash extension cord and the inexpensive SB-400 flash is a must have!
