The Seiko 5 has been around since the 1960's and is no resurrected as a brand new fully automatic movement watch. It may be assembled elsewhere than Japan but the quality is first rate and the watch is a thing of beauty. For some reason Seiko decided to add a rather basic linked stainless band that over time feels fine but when new certainly needs a break-in period to feel comfortable.
Not to worry, since this is a dress watch most men will opt to change out the metal band for a quality leather band, as I did. The feel is now great and I have a wonderful piece of history in a newly made package. Everything is brand new inside, this is not an old tired Seiko 5, although most still run well today. If you spend anytime looking for a Seiko 5 with dauphine hands you know there are not many out there usually these were put on the more expensive versions such as the Actus and going all the way up to the Seiko Grand.
Don't even hesitate to pick up one of these beauties, you will not be disappointed.

Quality at a bargain Price
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a wonderful and surprising bargain when you consider your getting a full in-house movement watch not a cheap quartz. No it will not keep weekly time down to the second as a quartz will with ease but just look inside. This is old world technology but in a brand new package. It will run for many years but yes, you will have to wear it to keep the automatic movement running and learn a few simple things about movement watches.
This movement is similar to the excellent Seiko 5 movement but upgraded and brand new. The watch itself larger than you might expect at 44mm, more like the fashion of today's watches. I personally prefer a slightly smaller watch at say 38mm but it feels fine on and it's not too heavy while still a substantial watch.
It looks more expensive than it is and thats the beauty of this watch. I ordered a second one as soon as this one arrived. My friends are already envious and I know I could easily sell it for more than I paid but I will be keeping it.
If your not familiar with movement watches and want to get a taste of old world watches this is certainly the one to buy. It will look great in any collection and work great to wear everyday, in fact that's the idea, make it your everyday watch since it needs to move to stay wound.
One note, if it's not keeping good time as mine did when I got it just get on YouTube, buy a simple case-back opener and learn how to adjust the "regulator" on top of the balance, the part that you can see moving. There is an adjustment that can be moved to either increase or decrease the strike rate of the balance and escapement. That's how you fine-tune a movement watch. You can also take it to a jeweler who has an electronic timer and have it done professionally. Either way you will have a watch that is good to go for many years.

One Classy Band
I order a lot of bands but my favorite is Hadley Roma. There are much more expensive bands available but the quality and price-point is prefect for me. I sell vintage winders and automatic watches. They come to me in various states of repair and to finish off my work I add a Hadley Roma band every time. The one in this review was so perfect I'm having a hard time deciding whether to keep this Rolex or sell it.
