Built Like an Airplane - Not a Tank
No this lens is Not "Built Like a Tank", but it is lightweight and optically Awesome.
Now you realize that this lens has a fixed F/Stop at F/11, so you have to know what you're doing to get the shots you want, and at 800mm, that can be challenging.
Although the lens has a plastic body, it is well made from a mechanical and optical stand-point.
You can read details about how you have to extend it, and all of the specs elsewhere, but I'm simply going to describe my experience using this lens with what I consider, the hardest photographic subjects to capture, Birds in Flight.
Bottom line; The IS works great, especially when coupled with In Body Stabilization, which allowed me to hand hold video... At 800mm !!
So the IS is fantastic, and the optics are great as well. I'm getting tack sharp images of birds moving very fast, in and out of extreme lighting conditions.
So is this lens built like Canons L lenses, No. Is this lens fast, No.
But is this lens Great... I think Yes.

Hello Dolly - Great Value with Minor Concerns
OK, this isn't a $600 dolly, it is a very inexpensive dolly that works great with a more than adequate build quality.
The plastic mounting hardware make me slightly uncomfortable, because they look & feel like they could break from time or normal stress, but do give a secure mount. That plastic feel made me less than confident when tightening the adjustments, but nothing broke as of yet and the dolly itself works great.
Its a real joy to get a working dolly for this price and I liked it so much that I purchased 3 more.
So other than my concerns for the long time durability of the plastic attachment components, I think this dolly is really nice.

Short & Sweet with a Long Reach
2 of 2 found this helpful As a pixel peeper I didn't expect much out of this 1.4X extender, but after my ist day of shooting birds-in-flight I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I use it primarily with the Canon 100-400mm II lens to bring it close to the long end of my Sigma 150-600mm Sports lens (560mm vs 600mm).
Now I always have the extender on that lens when I use it in the wild.
Is the 100-400mm sharper without it... Maybe, but if so, not too, too much.
I was equally surprised with the AF performance.
Is it as fast or versatile as the naked 100-400mm - NO!
Is it acceptable - Yes, and with practice it can be awesome.
With the Canon lens I mention hear I seem to get all of my focusing points, but in reality, even though it looks like they are all working, and they will grab a focus, they do not lock on perfectly... so you will get a lot of soft images using anything but the center focusing points.
As advertised, its not as fast, but it is surprisingly fast compared to what I expected... Surprisingly!
Another thing worth mentioning is that it is Super easy to manually focus my combination. Ive shot dragon flies from 10' perched on a dancing weed on a windy day and got excellent results, as well as birds-in-flight.
Yes, the experience of the photographer comes into play, but if you need that extra reach, this extender will give it to you, and with great results if you learn how to work with it.
