Debussy with a different flavor.

Son of an Italian father and a French mother, Barbirolli has Debussy in his blood. While not Martinon, these are not performances to be dismissed at all. Too often, we think La Mer as dancing waves in the Mediterranean while forgetting that the waves of Normandy and Brittney are just as French and just as magical in their own, different, way. The filler, Cluytens' Jeux is not the equal of Haitink's magical Phillips recording, but is a competent introduction of a under performed work.
