Very good optics, light weight, great value
1 of 1 found this helpful For shooting my kids' soccer and other activities, I used a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 VC ii and it does a very good job, except at times I felt that I needed more reach than 200mm....Having the 24-70 f/2.8 VCii as well, I thought the new Tamron 100-400 would be a great, light and compact zoom lens to add to my collection. After watching a handful of reputable reviews, including Dustin Abbott's videos, decided to purchase one.
I have used it a handful of outings and have pushed the lens at its weakest, 400mm and f/6.3....Have been pleasantly surprised at how well it did. At f/6.3, it's as sharp as my 70-200, which is a sharp copy as well.
The lens is the same physical size as the 70-200. It's easy to handle, compact and loving the extra reach. As far as distortion, seems pretty good to me, I use the Canon 100-400 lens profile in Lightroom.
Photos posted are shot with a Nikon D750.....1/2000 shutter, f/6.3 and iso 500....Yellow fence at 400mm, lady jumper at 200mm and white horse at 100mm.
