Not as good as UB9000P1K.
0 of 4 found this helpful The UB820 does offer improved picture quality over both of Sony's bluray players. The audio is notably weak over HDMI and sounds better out of the rca jacks. I'd say the 800xm2's audio is better using HDMI. The drive is noisy and the remote is fairly wonky. The 820 makes a case for itself if you aren't looking to spend too much and you are using the tv's speakers or a sound bar.
If you are looking for the best in audio and video performance, the UB9000P1K definitely is superior to the 820. Those with projectors or dedicated audio systems will greatly benefit from the 9000.
In short the 820 is pretty good whereas the 9000 is like WOW! Look at that! Even the home menu looks better on the 9000.
