I was adopted as a 2 month old baby by two wonderful people. We lost Mum in 2015, then sadly I lost my dear Dad in Feb 2023. He was 98 but it was still a shock. We have the same birthday (13th October), which will make my birthdays sad from now on.
I love learning about the planets. Venus is upside down, Jupiter is twice the size of all the other planets and moons combined, all the outer planets have rings and Uranus is on it's side! Planet Theia was destroyed, the debris clumping together to form our Moon, quite small at 2,159 miles across (about a quarter the size of Earth). The Sun, a dwarf star approx. 864,000 miles across, spits out more energy per second than humans have used in their entire history! At 93m miles away, its heat/light takes 8 mins to reach us.
Just think: we live on a rocky ball in space, spinning at roughly 1,000mph whilst orbiting the Sun at 67,000mph. So right at this very moment, we're all travelling at around 465 metres per second. Mind-blowing, isn't it!

Loved every minute!
I've only recently discovered this series on Netflix and then found it was being shown on the Sci-fi channel. Loved every minute of it so had a search for the DVD's and found almost all the box sets on ebay! Only series 5 in it's entirety is missing; for some reason it's in 2 separate packages, so I'll have to get it elsewhere.
If you want something faithful to the legend, don't watch Merlin. If however you want a highly entertaining, sometimes funny, often heartbreaking 'sword and sorcery' experience, then this is the series for you. For a budget TV show the CGI is pretty good, particularly the Great Dragon who is voiced by the wonderful John Hurt. Colin Morgan is exceptional as a very young Merlin, having to hide the magic he was born with whilst putting up with the ill-mannered, headstrong Prince Arthur. Given the role of manservant by King Uther (the excellent Anthony Head), they eventually form a close bond but magic is outlawed in Camelot so Merlin must find ways to keep Arthur safe whilst not revealing his gifts. Bradley James plays Arthur exactly as you might imagine a privileged teenager would behave, eventually growing up as he becomes king and finally becoming a responsible man.
More notable names in the series include Emilia Fox (Silent Witness) as Morgause and Charles Dance as a really scary witch-finder. Richard Wilson (One Foot In The Grave) is perfectly cast as Gaius, Merlin's guardian and mentor. Other well known faces include Pauline Collins, Frank Finlay and Tom Ellis (Lucifer). This series is not short on acting talent!
Five series later, the story comes to an end. It would have gone on for another 5 if I'd had my way! The journey it takes you on is breathtaking; if you can suspend belief and let yourself be drawn into Merlin's world, you may never want to leave.

Made my old boots look like new!!
As well as waterproofing (hopefully!) my suede boots, this product has made them look almost new again! Bought them at least 10 years ago but only wear them in winter so they look pretty good anyway. Brushed off the bits of dried on mud, then gave them a good spray of this product and left them to dry. Amazed at how good they looked afterwards; you'd never know they were 10 years old!! Does the product actually waterproof them? I've not been out in the rain yet so can't say for sure but damp grass left no marks on them. And to be totally honest, I'd buy this stuff just to make my much loved and supremely comfortable old suede ankle boots look like new again!!
