Thank you! I can Flex my new parenting muscle!
This has helped my family so so sooooo much! I'm pretty critical of parenting books since they are usually confusing and don't address behavior issues that we experience in our household. But when we implement these EASY techniques, they WORK! As a warning....the first week is not easy while kids are adjusting to the new policy. I had to keep my mouth shut (the book recommends silence once youve explained to child the policy)and hold a door closed while my daughter ranted and raved and destroyed her room. But oh boy, she learned that I was serious and no matter what kind of tantrum she had, I was not going to give in. (She was 7 yrs old at the time, not a toddler) I cannot praise this book enough. I have read multiple books to guide my parenting skills and I can throw all of them away now! Side note: I do not have a natural maternal instinct and was not raised with a woman who modeled that either. I've always questioned myself with self doubt, so if that's you then this is necessary. It helps me parent with confidence. Parenting is a learned skill for me (not a talent)
