Better Than Expected
Everything in the box appeared to be brand new, including the original documentation. It works as I'd hoped it would. I can't speak to its durability since I just started using it. I saw reviews (with pictures) on the newer model which has plastic gears that break, but this older model is a direct drive which is why I decided on it. The more parts you put into something, the more there is to go wrong. I believe in the KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Doesn't Get Hot Enough To Make A Pancake
I bought this piece of junk a Walmart awhile back and it wouldn't get hot enough to make a pancake, so I exchanged it for another one, hoping the first one was a fluke, but the replacement was just as bad. Now I'm questioning all these positive reviews on eBay. Is it compact, easy to operate, easy to clean? Sure, but does it get up to temperature? No. The plates are not in direct contact with the heating elements, so they're never going to get hot enough. I've bought a Cuisinart blender couple of years ago, which I had to return because it wasn't even as good as my 1960 Oster blender but was quite expensive. I've learned that Cuisinart is relying on their quality from many years ago but is still charging for their name. Don't waste your money on a name.
