Too accurate to be sturdy enough
I have bought two of these Aires 1/72 conversion kits to build two different Mistel composite aircraft models. Both Aires conversion kits arrive damaged, because the too-scale pieces were too fragile to survive shipping. Even if the kits had arrived undamaged, however, the strut units joining the two aircraft kits together would never have been strong enough to work.
The massive resin part that represents the shaped-charge warhead looks very good but in fact doesn't fit to the Hasegawa Ju88 fuselage very well. It required a lot of shimming and gap-filling superglue to join the resin and styrene, and a lot of the styrene fuselage had to be sanded down to come out flush with the resin part, destroying the engraved details on the Hasegawa kit.
I ended up substituting the interplane strut parts from an Italeri 1/72 Mistel combo kit to join the Italeri Bf109 to the Hasegawa Ju88. The Italeri strut parts were much beefier and not as too-scale, but they will definitely be strong enough to support the fighter planes on top of the bomb planes. I think the end result will be fine.
