The best game to hate!
Most people HATE a game where they ALWAYS lose. YES... the game is a bear and EVERYONE is out to get you. You may starve, drown, or just get eaten by the tiger... BUT, you will LEARN a lot playing this game.
I haven't heard of anyone, from The Dice Tower, to Radho-Runs-Through, who hasn't lost this game numerous times... and yet, there are few games that present such a delicious challenge. You lose and come back for more.
What I learned from playing this game was far more important than losing at it, forever.

Good family game... good game to play with "intimate Others"
How many times have you wanted your "significant other" to sit down and play a game with you?
I know... NO to war games, NO to games with complicated rules, NO to useless complications and too many working parts.
"Legacy" is a challenging game about families, adventures, and how "snutty" you can possibly become, without being overly full of yourself. It's one-upmanship at its best. One fashions three generations of a family. You climb, socially, and build up your good family name.
Honestly, everyone can have a great time with this game.

Great game, solid components, great game play
"Gettysburg" is a block war game, put out by Columbia Games. It enacts the "fog of war" exceedingly well, while giving the players solid wooden blocks, instead of cardboard units. The rules are highly readable, and it doesn't take much time to jump into game play.
I didn't buy the "deluxe" edition, which has mounted maps, so one might have to use some sort of glass or plexi-glass to keep the board flat.
I've played with mini's, cardboard units and wooden blocks. I like the wooden blocks... unit reductions are easy, and the sense of strategy is very much alive. ALL these Columbia Games are good quality at a decent price.
