Haven't seen any improvement
I compared this antenna with the default on the Yaesu FT2D to listen to a weak simplex frequency on 2 metres. I could hear the signal on another portable made by Baofeng, but neither antenna on the FT2D could get a signal. When comparing the two antennas on the FT2D on 70 cm repeaters, the Nagoya antenna did not give a stronger S-meter rating.

Died after three days of use
2 of 2 found this helpful It worked fine for three days and then it rained while I was using it. As it is a mobile antenna, rain should not be an issue. I used only 28 and 50 MHz bands with less than 100 watts from my FT-991A. Initially SWR was low, but now it is infinite. I tried it on a different mount to eliminate the mount and coax from the equation, but the antenna is the issue. I have no way to see what has happened inside the antenna, but there is no obvious damage on this new antenna. So I am very disappointed with the purchase.
