Near Mint Refurbished Lenovo T61p (4GB RAM, 500GB HD)
Condition:
The laptop came in near mint condition, with only slightly rubbed edges at each corner of the laptop exterior. Keyboard, LCD, touchpad, thumbprint scanner, and audio all work flawlessly. The battery only lasts a little over an hour, but this is to be expected with the energy-hungry T61p line, particularly since the battery is in used condition.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the maximum brightness of the screen is quite dim by current laptop standards. However, the crisp 1920x1200 screen makes my development environment an amazing alternative to a normal desktop computer. Also, the matte display is far easier on the eyes than newer reflective finish displays.
User Experience: This laptop runs 64-bit Ubuntu Linux 10.04 with virtually no extra setup required. The nVidia card does require a few configuration tweaks in order to work properly after the machine is woken up from standby (look for "NvidiaLaptopBinaryDriverSuspend" in online Ubuntu documentation).
I'm currently running 10 virtual desktops in Ubuntu, and a normal desktop development environment can involve 10+ opened apps. In spite of the laptop using older generation memory, the 2.4 GHz processor/RAM combination is powerful enough to run all of my apps in parallel without a single system slowdown.
A fantastic computer at a very reasonable price. Highly Recommended.
