Wrong size collar nut

I have the DuraPower Elite MX1500. The original valve became blocked and fuel would not flow, so I searched and found this with the exact description I needed. This item does not fit the fuel tank on my generator. The Collar nut which screws onto the tank outlet is too large and does not thread. It appears to be a good product, but it does not fit the generator listed.
