For My Mother with Dementia
My mother has dementia and I had read that "dolls" are used in a patient's treatment. The doll arrived last week and at first I didn't think she'd take to the doll. But, since then, each time she's been upset and disoriented, I've given her the doll and it's as-if she's seeing the doll for the first time. My mother stops crying and smiles and talks to it like it's her own child. I hope the doll continues to keep her calm and comfortable.
