One of the great early operas

This "tragedy with music," as Gluck described it, is lovingly presented by a stellar cast headed by Paul Groves and Anne Sofie von Otter, both in superb form. The compelling story flows magnificently under the baton of early-music master John Eliot Gardiner. Simply excellent.
