Focuses on the unique needs of hiking/backpacking w. four legged companions
I do a lot of research prior to any hiking/backpacking trip- and I've found this book to be a helpful part of that process. It presents trail information, maps, trip ideas a little differently- keeping in perspective the unique needs of bringing along a four legged companion. That last piece of information ensure all of us have a good time in the outdoors. The author does a good job avoiding information that is already covered in other backpacking books- and focuses on lesser known areas/trips (a few popular ones too- but it really looks to focus on the niche) and really breaks things down. If you are hiking with a four legged companion- then this book would offer valuable information on the subject and is worth the look. The author talks about training and ethical responsibilities (not always a popular topic)- which is important and sometimes lacking in other books.
