Stellar sound with great features
2 of 2 found this helpful Although hard to setup, this receiver rewards you with seamless sound between multiple sources. As far as the setup goes, you should (if you can) get one with the microphone for the MCACC system. This will make it exponentially easier. I had one from one of my Harman Kardon receivers that I used and it worked fine. The on-screen dispay is very simplistic, as you might expect from a receiver from 2006, but useful. The remote is very complicated and not at all intuitive. If you get a receiver that doesn't have an owner's manual, you will never figure out how to use it properly. Search the web and you can find one, and after finding it, read it. It opens so many doors.
I love the way the thing sounds, I've had Pioneer receivers most of my life, other than a brief stint experimenting with some high-end Harman Kardons, and you can't beat the sound that Pioneer provides. All in all, a fantastic way to buy a Pioneer flagship receiver that once cost two grand.

When it works...
2 of 2 found this helpful I purchased this BD player as an open box item. It arrived and I hooked it into my system. The image quality is fantastic, it's easy to use, and it has lights on the front panel to let you know when it's on. The Blu-ray menu is OK, not completely intuitive but not bad. Same as all other Samsung BD menus that I've seen. Getting it up and running on my wifi network was a breeze.
The problem with the thing is that after two weeks (and only four discs played) the thing started randomly *not* playing Blu-ray discs. It will play some, but not all. It will still play all normal DVDs, and upscale them, but not the BD. And you don't know which ones it will/won't play, either. Don't say it's the discs. I have two other Samsung BD players that play these discs just fine. It's infuriating. Buy something else.
