NEW How to Draw: Drawing and Sketching Objects and Environments from Your Imagin
    Jan 15, 2016
This is a really fantastic and easy to follow tome
Quite a tome on the principles of drawing, but not just that. This book, or rather it's author, Mr. Robertson, is extremely thorough in laying the foundations of fundamental drawing technique and the principles of perspective and it's use in constructing convincing objects and environments. If you are interested in drawing things that look accurate to your vision than I would recommend this book highly. The principles in this book can be used to construct on paper anything you can think of. Mr. Robertson's style of writing is easy to follow, his drawings and use of style through out also are quite pretty and inspiring. If this book isn't required reading at art school yet, I'm pretty sure it will be.

TOPS Black Micarta UTE #2 Carbon Steel Fixed Blade Knife + Sheath! UTE-02
    Jul 25, 2017
Spec OPS trust TOPS!!! And with good reason.
3/16" thick cross section. Full Tang. Great scales. Beautiful fit and finish. Supplied sheath is superb. Small enough to carry always, large enough to be of real use when needed. The knife most useful is the knife at hand as they say. The design is well thought out. Especially the finger choil, after the kick. Many knives are not designed well due to the lack of user protection, and though it may seem like not much the choil after the kick is perfect to keep you safe using this very nice knife. What I call a finger choil may be called a finger rest by some, It's definitely not a guard. Anyway. The Fit and Finish is top notch. Blade Symmetry, Grind Symmetry, Scale fit and finish and sheath are all 100%. Nothing I'd feel is done 90%. Within the design and price point mind you. I'd not expect fancy crucible steel and wood or the latest polymer scales at this price. But what you'd expect at this price is well surpassed nonetheless. Made in USA also means fanatical attention to detail, a proper warranty, people who care and proper heat treatment for the 1095.

Nicely Illustrated and Photographed German book about mostly Euro N Layouts
This is an excellent book if Sie sprichst oder lesen Deutsch. If you don't read or speak German it's still a rather pretty book outlining 20 layouts over a 116 pages. The writing style is classic, mildly colloquial, Hoch-Deutsch. There is a plan for Linden, Indiana circa 1955 which is an interesting Diorama style piece. Overall it's a light read and inspirational as the layouts featured are beautiful and there is plenty of how to and step by step advise to make the book worth it for a budding enthusiast looking to build a new or perhaps expand/modify and existing layout. The book is quite well illustrated in the fine German tradition of ALBA who has been publishing books like this for donkeys ears. The photos are very pretty and sharp and detailed as are the many illustrations and the track plans themselves are easy to read and follow. If you see this book floating around for the 10-15 dollar range it's worth a look if it's in the budget.
