A Different Mirror: A History of Multicultural America

Little known history
Takaki really illuminates the lesser known series of ever so many ethnic and racial groups in America with great insight. A book I will long remember even though not quite completed. It is a hard read but well worth the effort.

A good beginning but some omissions
There were some good smoothie and frittata recipes. The index was not very good. I get the blood/sugar emphasis, but the elimination of dairy and gluten as well is a bit fuzzy, although then I see you can phase them back if own body doesn't react. Still, some of the explanation seems to vary with other 21 day detox stuff of Hyman's. Did lose some weight without being hungry however, so good that way.

Great book that I wanted another copy of, and so found used to purchase. Great book to keep in one's own library.
