More Wonderfulness!!
Here is another chapter in the exciting saga of October Daye, Knight of Lost Words. While this book seemed to read almost like a standalone story, it opens up the world beyond the Kingdom In the Mists to its neighbor to the north, the Kingdom of Silences.
War is declared by Silences to put the false queen back on the throne. In another example of no good deed goes unpunished, Toby is named Ambassador to Silences and tasked with preventing hostilities. As always, May, Tybault and Quentin are included, as is alchemist Walther Davies.
The story brings in new characters while showing more depth to existing characters. There is a very nice passage of Tybault dealing with the local King of Cats in Portland. The fae world McGuire has created is as enchanting as ever, while retaining the mysteries of Toby's very being. Themes of love, family, hope, bigotry and hatred are shown in their beauty and ugliness.
These books just keep getting better and better!!
