Great for the price and functional for home use
Works perfectly for my home recording studio. The price is almost too god to believe but it meets my needs. I use an Audio Technica condenser mic and it holds it in place quietly. I have it clamped to my workstation desk and it swings out of the way when I don't need it. Nice to have a mic stand cluttering up the floor around my desk. Highly recommend!

Great case for my 5-string bass
I bought a Schecter Stiletto Session 5-string and needed a case. This Gator case is an incredible value and fits my 35" scale bass perfectly. I didn't really need the ATA rating but the extra protection offered by this case is always welcome. It has plenty of extra space on either side of the bass to accommodate a tuner, strings and a strap. Though solid, it's not heavy and is well-balanced when the bad is in it. Nice job, Gator!

Does the job on a plastic nut
Got these for a 5-string fretless J bass kit build. Though the fretboard was fretless, the manufacturer had left the nut slots way too high. So, in this case, I used these to file down a plastic nut that was already in place.
I wanted to use a medium set of Pressurewound strings and these saw rods were great for those string sizes. Due to the relatively small sizes of the saw rods, there's not a lot to grip when sawing but the instructions tell you as much. You'd probably want to get a (much more expensive) set of nut slot files if you plan to do a lot of nut work. For my single-project purpose, these were fine.
So, with patience and some elbow grease, you can get the job done on a plastic nut. You also have good control over how much nut material is removed so it's highly unlikely that, with any vigilance at all, you'll end up with slots that are too deep.
