Excellent story--plus you get vampires
Somehow I never heard of A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness until a friend recommended it to me recently. I don’t read a lot of fantasy or paranormal literature as a rule. I enjoyed it a lot because it has all the ingredients I look for: interesting, well-developed characters, a bit of humor, mystery, a twisty plot, and great settings (I would so like to visit the Bodleian Library). It also has something I’ve never previously encountered in a novel: characters speaking Old French or Occitan. Perfect for those who enjoy vampires and the paranormal (and even for those of us who don't read many vampire stories).

Easy way to add another "phone jack" to your land line
If you have a landline and want an additional phone "jack" without actually having to install another jack, this works great. I bought this because the wall-mounted jack in my home office ceased to work for the second time in twelve years (problem with the exterior phone wire). You plug the base unit into a wall outlet as near a (functioning) phone jack as possible, connecting the base unit to the phone and jack with those phone cords. You plug the extension unit into a wall outlet where you want put the new phone, and connect that phone to the extension unit. In my case, I had to get longer phone cables for both the base unit and the extension, as the assumption that the jack would be near an outlet proved to be mistaken. Works great.

Excellent button book for the compulsive seamstress
An excellent book for anyone interested in making decorative buttons, but it also has instructions for making frog closures. The directions are clear and there's a wide range of styles and methods. Whether you want to add a designer touch to your purchased garment, home-tailored outfit, reproduction Edwardian lingerie blouse (or 16th century doublet, for that matter), there's something here you can use.
