Solid as a rock
Gitzo has been a leader in professional photographic tripods for decades and I've used then almost exclusively since the mid 1980's.
The Gitzo 5 series is a workhorse of a tripod and it's a dream for large format photographers when combined with the Crémaillère (rack and pinion) center column.
I should have opted for the "Giant" version of this tripod as it's legs are slightly longer and requires less leg extension when shooting at eye level but nevertheless this is a great tripod.
Buy one of these if you don't have the space, need or budget for a FOBA stand; you won't be disappointed.
Pros: It's sturdy, it's easily transported and the center Crémaillère section is perfection.
Cons: It's heavy and not as rock solid as a top of the line studio stand that cost thousands more.

It works...
I don't use this item as depicted and quite frankly I don't understand why you would but I digress.
I use this as a spacer between the camera's rear frame and the ground-glass spring-back. This spacer allows you to use a Polaroid 405 holder in landscape orientation without the fat end of the holder hitting the camera's frame. This is a welcome relief as without this spacer the Polaroid 405 back hits a SINAR 4x5's rear frame causing your images to be rendered slightly out-of-focus and potentially fogged.
I wish they made these perhaps 70~75mm thick as this would make using a Polaroid 405 back in portrait mode much easier while using a SINAR P series camera.

Multi Purpose
I most often use this as a lens shade but at times it a a front lens standard when not using lenses compatible with the SINAR Auto Shutter.
