It gets the job done but Nikon users take note.
I really did want to like this umbrella and flash holder, the quality was there right until I reached the flash holder cold shoe and it's lack of a locking hole for the newer Nikon flashes.
I will note that the cold shoe is removable and could be swapped out for something better so I don't want to just bash this thing for just that one part because while it is the weak link, it is replaceable.
With that out of the way I will begin. The unit is plastic, but it is not cheep plastic with that cheep feel, it is the heavy kind of plastic like decking is made from and the large toggle bolts that hold important things are all threaded into metal T-nuts that distribute the load over a wide area so you are not going to have to worry about them being torn out or stripping threads. The umbrella retaining screw is however threaded directly into the plastic, but really you should not need much force to hold the thin wall umbrella arm anyway so this is fine.
Lastly I will explain the cold shoe. I would like to explain that I am a Nikon user so what is a problem for me may not be a problem for you at all. The cold shoe is a plastic block that has a metal post sticking out of it to hold it to the umbrella holder, and a metal cold shoe on the other side to hold the flash, this shoe has a cut out and there is a divot in the plastic so that the shoe does not activate the flash. The shoe is held down with three small screws, if you own a flash that can clamp itself down with a screw down type of clamp on the flash you are in luck and this show will work for you no problem at all and you can trust it to hold your flash like you trust your camera to hold your flash. However, if you own a newer Nikon flash that uses a locking pin to secure your flash onto a shoe, you are going to have to either setup your flash so that gravity holds it in the shoe so it can't slide out, or get a Nikon locking pin compatible cold shoe with a post that can be attached to the umbrella holder.
Of note for the crafty out there. If you still have the plastic base that came with your Nikon flash that your flash can clip into and lock, you can remove the post from the cold shoe that comes with this flash holder and screw that post into the threaded insert in the flash stand then you will have a cold shoe that will mount onto the umbrella holder and hold your flash with the locking pin.

Like the jacket, I hate the pockets.
Like the jacket, I hate the pockets. This is a good quality jacket and it has huge pockets that you could drop a box of screws into but they are no good for putting your hands into. Great for work, not so good for casual wear. Brest pocket is great for a cell phone and it will be protected there but the pocket is again difficult to access.

Not an SLR, but a great camera that works well even in water.
4 of 4 found this helpful Great little camera, I bought this for my 4 year old as a birthday gift. It's durable, easy for her to use and takes nice photos. I gave this camera to her for a birthday trip to a water park and it took the beating of a water park, and holds up to the beach. How good is this camera? I shoot slides and my kid wanted to shoot slides like daddy. No film will tell you that your camera does not expose film correctly like slide film, but this camera exposed two whole rolls of slides just fine. Her little friends love how it is brightly colored, and how it takes pictures even in the water, some of them even talked their parents into buying them one.
On the down side, the battery for this thing is expensive and because it is auto focus there is some shutter lag.
