Solid tool, but very heavy
1 of 1 found this helpful Overall this is a very powerful professional quality angle grinder. I bought it to replace my heavily used Craftsman angle grinder I bought back in 1981. The trigger switch on the Craftsman went out for the third time in the life of the 35+ year old tool and I could no longer get the part to replace it. It's a real shame because I thought that thing was going to last forever. Anyway, the Makita seems like a very nice tool, the only issue I have with it is the weight. It is considerably heavier than other large angle grinders I have used including the Craftsman grinder. At my age, you can guess because I was 18 when I bought the Craftsman. It is going to be a chore to hold it up for any great length of time. That is fine for grinding welds, but extended use on wood siding is not going to be easy. That is not the fault of the tool, but I do wish it were a pound or two lighter. If it lasts half as long as my other grinder, it will outlive my working days.
