Hit's Close to the Mark (get it?)
If you want that classic Mark series amplifier sound on a budget this is your best bet. Has hi and lo gain channels or modes, yet even the hi gain doesn't really sound all that gainy unless you have some really high output pickups to push the circuits with, like EMG 81s or Duncan Blackouts, so I might get a Duncan pickup booster pedal in future, seeing as I've grown more partial to passive pickups as of late. Another problem is the battery compartment screws must have been torque tightened or something because they will NOT budge an iota. Not sure how I'm ever gonna get the battery out of it. Overall, fantastic tone and features with only the moderate gain of the "hi" mode and the impossible to access battery compartment to complain about.

I finally have a V
The one thing I was worried about with pointy V models like this is the input jack. To play a V sitting down you have to put the guitar across your right thigh and let the bottom part rest against your left thigh. The jack is on the upper part of the inner V section that rests on the right thigh, so I thought it might get in the way and be jostled and cause problems. Nope, I'm a big guy, 6'2", 254lbs with a massive ham hock of a thigh and the cable is still an inch or more away from being touched. Great guitar, tho I've only played it for about an hour, I own other ESP 401 models and they're all good quality.

INCREDIBLE build experience
tbh, and I'll bet many are also like this, the set looks boring at first glance. I watched a couple youtube reviews on it and they shared this concern I had, but they also said basically "Nono, this is a FUN build, like a pure brick building experience", so I decided to get it. Not a single thing to regret. Tons of pieces for the price, it looks amazing in-person, and it's sturdy enough that you can lift it by nearly the top without it coming apart.
DEFINITELY get if you like lego. I just wish they'd come out with a Chrysler building and a Burj Al Arab set. I love that architecture.
