Well polished remake
I was pleasantly surprised at how faithful this remake is to the original. Everything from the graphics, sound effects, music, story beats and characters. This is how you do a remake!. Too bad Secret of Mana did not get this same treatment. With the recent announcement of another Mana title in the works, I can hardly wait to see what is next.

Nice portable system for GBA and DS titles
0 of 2 found this helpful This is a great portable system if you some GBA and DS games. The 2 backlit screens really make a big difference over the original DS (and even the GBA SP original - non backlit version). If you are like me, and your hands get cramped up from playing on the GBA SP, this would be a much needed improvement for you to have this system.
Overall the DS lite is perfect system to relive all those classics you have on GBA and DS. Would be even better if you could play original GB games on it - but hey, I need to keep using my old (original) DS for that purpose :)

Not cooked long enough
I bought this mainly for the nostalgia factor since I gre up with cartoon and toys.
I knew going in it was okay based on other reviews...but man this game needed more time in the oven.
There was one annoying bug on a vehicle mission where after a game over, it would not le me restart - so I always had to exit the whole game and relaunch it.
The targeting and aiming in the game needed more work. For example, anytime an enemy would get close enough for a melee attack, I could not lock on or focus on them. So I had to constantly readjust the camera to see them. They really needed like a z - targeting system like in Zelda games.
The AI for your partners are terrible and that is putting it nicely. They just stand there in a firefight doing nothing with only occasional shots.
During the cut scenes, I could a actually hear the voice my character makes when their special attack is fully charged. So their voice would talk over the voices in the cut scene. This seems like lazy design and clearly slapped together without any thought.
When you unlock the classic PSA's from the TV show, after they finish playing once they play again but only the sound is heard...the video is frozen at the last frame.
Do these devs bother to test anything I wonder?.
This is just such an important franchise, so more time was needed to test and refine the mechanics.
One last thing I found annoying during cut scenes was the 'hold A to skip' message that was CONSTANTLY displayed on the screen. Why? That just kills immersion even though these cut scenes where more comic book than 3d modeled.
The DLC not being able to be purchased separately unless you buy the digital deluxe version was really scummy IMO. So all the people that bought physical miss out. Still, based on how the game turned out, I don't feel like I would want to give any more money for this unpolished game.
