The Model 1891 Carcano Rifle: A Detailed Developmental and Production History by

The forgotten warrior.

This book presents a detailed examination of an all but forgotten military rifle which was innovative for it's time and used in several wars to protect those armed with it. The photo's are colorful and detailed as they should be. The quality of the weapon should not be confused with the tactics used or the outcome of the battles of which it was deployed. While it does not enjoy the notoriety of a Mauser, Springfield or Enfield, it was as well made as any other military rifle and as safe as any other weapon used to arm the troops of it's mother country. I'm sure that after reading this book a collector will have a slightly different perspective regarding the Carcano rifle and be encouraged to research more of this line of history and possibly pursue collecting in a slightly different direction. On a scale of one to ten, I rate this book at four.

I was not at all happy with the book, "The Devil's Guard, The real story" by Eric Meyer. Whether fact or fiction, the book by George Elford is far superior with the ability to hold the reader's attention. I would not re-read this book; I have re-read Elford's book numerious times and will continue to do so again.

I have no problem with the original title.

This is a great piece of entertainment which does not require a score card to watch. There is no violent language or sex to detract from the movie. NOW... if only all Hallmark movie were available for purchase as DVD's !
