NEW 2022 Elite Custom Race Plus Water Bottle Cage - Black Glossy/Orange Graphic
    Oct 22, 2022
    hard to beat
I got orange for visibility. rather than having to "feel" for the cage with my water bottles I can glance down and target them. simple and light; puts a death grip on my camelbak podiums. Can't beat 'em for the price.

    In good company
PRS has been around for a while and probably needs no into here. These are nice guitars. The CU24 is mahogany - body and neck - with rosewood fretboard, just like your average Gibson product. It's also a carve top like a Les Paul. To me they're very similar except for the necks. The CU24 feels more SG-ish, and when they describe the neck as wide they mean it. I've got the wide thin profile and it takes a little mental shift even if you're not a 1 5/8 nut guy. I play predominantly Tom Andersons and William Raynauds and the PRS neck is noticeably wider. Is that a good thing? Maybe. Do you like SGs? The overall feeling is very similar: long flat neck sticking way out to your left. The balance on these guitars is quite nice, though: better than the neck-heavy SG and lighter than the good, solid LP) Hey, the birds on the fretboard are really pretty awesome, I have to admit. There is good sustain as well, but I'm not going to say that my CU24 has any better sound than my Andersons or Raynauds or CS LPs, Suhrs, Melancons, etc. It does have a wide palette of tones from which to draw, but no more than many other hand made instruments. I will say it brightens up nicely for a mahogany guitar, too; but it will not approach a maple-necked, alder-bodied guitar in that regard. Of course, that's why we have guitars of different woods in the first place. I would think the CU24 a good choice overall if you're a one-guitar person (especially when considering the neck as I find switching back and forth to the CU24 a bit distracting); I do consider it slightly more versatile than either a Les Paul or your basic Strat-style guitar although my Anderson Drop Tops'll give it a run for its money (as would, I think, a Wayne Rock Legend or a Raynaud Custom with those hand-wound Arcanes.) I do not think you'll be disappointed with the CU24; as with any other high end instrument, the fit and finish are fabulous, even on the non 10-top models. For me, though, the two things that stand out most are that wide neck and the weight of the guitar (this is not a lightweight guitar.) If either of these things is a showstopper for you I'd consider something else. If not, then enjoy; these are truly nice instruments!
