Works great but mono audio.
The product works as expected. The quality of the output from the Hi8 tapes I recorded from other brand camcorders is good. I was a little surprised that it has single-channel audio output but that was probably the standard when this Camcorder was made. My original Hi8 (Ricoh) had stereo output and my recordings are stereo. This is not a problem for me.
I marked no for lightweight but this is comparing it with later models. My Ricoh is lighter, but I also have a later model Sony MiniDV camera which is really lightweight.
