The best of the Second Generation Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboards
When Microsoft started making ergonomic keyboards in the 90s, I liked the first generation and LOVED the second generation. (For some reason I just can't get my hands to like the current version of MS Ergo keyboards, but that's another review.) For my money, this is the best and most affordable kind of keyboard you can get.
But as time (and Microsoft) moved on these keyboards become harder to get. I have two of the multimedia version of these keyboards but you have to remember to turn on the F-Lock key to restore standard function key functionality. Also, these keyboards have the old style keyboard connector and don't use USB.
The Dell version of this keyboard, however, solves both problems and adds a new benefit. There is no F-Lock key - the function keys just *work.* Secondly, the keyboard connects to the computer via USB, solving the second problem. It also provides two USB ports in the front of the keyboard itserf, a real treat.
The only remaining problem with the 2G keyboard is that you can't set it to tilt *forward* like the 1G keyboards did. This is easily remedied with some rubber furniture end caps from Home Depot, attached with super glue.
So if you're looking for a Second Generation Microsoft Natural Keyboad, look for the Dell one. It's the best!

I really love the layout of the second generation ergonomic keyboards from Microsoft...
1 of 1 found this helpful I really love the layout of the second generation ergonomic keyboards from Microsoft, but they don't sell them any more. The plain white and black keyboards are the best, but even harder to find. This is a good alternative; the layout is the same and there are a lot of nice extra functions available in the multimedia buttons along the top.
If you need an ergonomic keyboard but can't spend a hundred dollars -- or more! -- then snap one of these up before they're all gone.
