Black & Decker, HH2455, 24 in. 3.3-Amp Hedge Trimmer with Rotating Handle

A highly-rated and well-designed trimmer with one flaw
When I was a kid in the 1950s I had to trim hedges with a corded electric trimmer and this modern version with a blade that’s about twice as long and weighs about half as much is so much better. I selected this make and model because it was highly rated by Consumer Reports. My only complaint is the locking switch is difficult/tricky to set so it stays on and even the instructions about it are hard to remember. It’s a good idea to heed the instructions’ safety warning; Wear eye and hearing protection (even though it’s electric it is noisy) and it also says you should wear rubber gloves, presumably in case you accidentally cut the cord while you’re operating it on wet or damp ground. My photo also shows a Homelite (again,Consumer Reports) highly-rated two-speed corded blower that I bought on eBay and that should also be used hearing protection.

Don’t expect the same performance as the original
This is an approximate small copy of the original design by the Antennas Direct model from 91XG that is unchanged since the late 1990s and is still selling well. I did a comparison test and the little antenna did not do well for moderate or weak UHF signals. It’s gain was much lower and it couldn’t produce a picture for some stations that the 91XG did.

In my tests, very good for VHF, fair for UHF compared to the equivalent RCA, possible damage from inadequate packing, difficult F connection access
Each reviewer's results are unique and they don't mean much if there's no comparison and, in reality, there's no one antenna that will be good for everyone at every address and at every location at that address because in difficult reception areas there are so many variables. The smaller RCA with fewer UHF elements might be better for you depending on the RF channels in your area. I compared/tested the RCA and the ANI-AV on the same mast and at various heights at my difficult reception location and the ANI-AV was very good receiving RF channels 9 and 10, the best of the small antennas I have tested at this address and location for for these two channels from Walnut Grove, California, but its UHF performance was not as good as the RCA receiving RF channels 25 and 35. The recessed connector on the transformer makes it difficult to attach the cable. You'll need needle-nose pliars or, much better, a cable TV installer's split socket wrench. The double box for shipment has no crush space and two of the tube elements arrived bent and could not be straightened but that did not affect the performance.
