First let me say that I really took a chance with this book. Normally I won't pay so much (yeah, not even $10) for a book by an author I haven't read especially a contemporary author. I'm not sure what got me to get this book but I loved it. Let me say that this was how I spent an entire Saturday and it was perfect. Ultimately I was driven to finish the book by my desire to know what was happening and happened. I love that the book had an open ending. This provides the reader with the ending of their choice. Ultimately I think there are so many great endings to a story like this that for the author to have made that decision would've been a mistake. Sure, there are readers that are disappointed in a lack of clarification but I think that was part of the overall theme of the book which provides for a great ending.
I fully intend to get the Kindle book by this author and any subsequent books by him as long as he maintains his style and keeps providing great work.

Read cover to cover in one day
As my title states I read this in one day. I put the book down to eat and go to the bathroom. I had to know what was going to happen next. I read the author's book 'The swallows of Kabul' which is one of my favorite books. This one wasn't as good but it still got me. The ending was a surprise. I had no clue what was going to happen. Didn't care so much for the main character. Loved the main debate of the book. Really brings together a lot of opposing view without bias.
