Music on the Alto Sax in an Easy Listening Style
Searching for cheap CDs on eBay I came across some Kenny G CDs. Years ago, not sure how many now, I bought a Kenny G CD in the USA while on a visit. That's interesting, I thought, and started to search for cheap Kenny G CDs. I have now bought a few to add to my collection. In style Kenny's Alto Sax is easy to listen to although each track is much like any other; some of them don't appear to have any melodic theme with Kenny seeming to extemporise on 'nothing'. I do a lot of that on the organ so know how it goes; I call it ‘making it up as you go along’. However it would be more interesting if Kenny was a little more inventive as I am sure he 'could do better' if some thought was put into it. However for something to listen to in the car (mine plays MP3 files) there is little distraction from the driving and creates a pleasant ambience, with that 'feel good' factor that makes a pleasant journey. One irritation with Kenny G CDs is the repetition of tracks; a group of CDs may have 50 tracks but about a third of them are repeats from other CDs. However, at the price of £3 or so I am not complaining. While you may not like what he does much of what passes for music these days is just a noise to me being brought up on Bach and Buxtehude.

TP Link 5 Port Switch
I bought this to replace one that had failed. It was not the same as the one that failed; it is a smaller, white plastic job. My fault for not paying close attention. I was looking for a TL-SF1005D - this is not it. This has LS1005 on the box. It has an external power supply, as per the failed one. However, it does the same job and have used it to replace another one that I cannot see. I am a little concerned about the stress 3 round network cables are putting on it and may replace those with flat cables that are more flexible also use a colour one for the input (socket on wall) and grey for outgoing. 3 year warranty is says on the box so made a note in the calendar on the PC, along with a copy of the order, on the day it expires. I should have written the purchase date on the item.
I have been advised that TP Link equipment does not last long. I have only had one of these switches fail so I am quite happy to use another TP Link device.

Too fat to fit.
This key was bought to repair a worn out key for a Mercedes W220. I had previously bought a key case without the battery carrier, which proved to be unreliable. This key case, together with some new batteries, works fine on the buttons, although a little stiffer than an original key. However, trying to put the key into the lock to start the car proved nearly impossible. A pair of callipers, comparing the dimensions of a key that works (two keys with the car), revealed the width of the purchased key case is 0.05 millimetre wider than the original. Original key is 10.5mm and the bought key case is 11mm wide. Some gentle work with a flat file reduced the thickness to the required 10.5 mm and now the key fits fine.
Such a small thing but the key case, as sold, does not fit due to being too wide.
Had the key fitted without the filing and had the Mercedes emblem been on the back, as per original, it would have got 5 stars.
