okay with reservations
The book was an easy read, but if you came for an in-depth study of NC moonshine you came to the wrong place. It was mostly an ode to the writer's father (a still busting, part time deputy). The text was very repetitive, making repeated references to the same big-time still raids. I don't know how you can give notoriety to famous NC moonshiners without at least mentioning David Marshall "Carbine" Williams. Williams the noted gun inventor that revolutionized military firearm design during WW2 and later, had gone to prison for killing a deputy during a still raid. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad book but it could have been so much better.
