Very Versatile and Feature-Rich 'Stat!
First off, this Wi-Fi Vision Pro 8000 'stat was an upgrade from a 2013 non-Wi-Fi Honeywell Vision Pro unit that came as part of my 4-Ton Carrier 16-SEER 2-Stage Heat Pump/AC unit install back then. So, the mounting wall plate screw holes were the same and the wiring was to the identical letter terminals (C, Y, W, R etc.) on both units. I did have to replace the old wall-plate with the new one that came with this 'stat. Regardless, I would recommend taking a cell-phone pic of your old 'stat's wiring/terminals just to have a reference before you start. I would also recommend reviewing the install and owner's manuals BEFORE you start, just to better familiarize yourself with the connections and also the basic system configuration and set-up for your type of system- this is absolutely critical for your system to run correctly. Also, you have to register your new 'stat on the Honeywell website during initial set-up, including being able to connect it your home Wi-Fi network/router, etc. It does take a few minutes to do this and the 'stat display screen navigates you through the set-up process, step-by-step. Another great feature of this unit is that it automatically sets the date and time and receives your local outdoor temp. and humidity - all over the internet based upon your zip code- very nice!! AND...no BS about having to install backup batteries either, as it retains your settings if the power should go out. YAY!! I would recommend downloading the Honeywell App on your phone first to start your acct. and then you can add your new 'stat to your account during set-up. This is a very versatile, capable and incredibly feature-rich thermostat that will work on just about any home or business system out there - so just be sure to set it up correctly and you will have an amazing Wi-Fi 'stat for your home or business. I would also HIGHLY recommend looking at and understanding all of the user-selectable features of this unit, as several of them will add to your overall energy efficiency and comfort - making this unit easily pay for itself over time. Also, before you start your installation, be sure to shut your system OFF first and then turn off the power at the breaker panel, just to be extra careful. It's always good practice to do this!! Once you have double-checked your wiring connections to the 'stat terminals and they are secure, turn the power back ON to start the set-up of the new 'stat.
Once mine was all set-up, there was a 5 min. system start delay- which I believe may be a default setting on the 'stat that you can change. It did cause me a few anxious minutes, but I did recall reading something about a system start delay while reviewing the manuals. Since I completed the install, I am absolutely delighted with my well-thought-out purchase. As mentioned, this is an incredibly versatile unit; likely the most versatile and feature rich units I found after doing a lot of research!! I made several minor checks and feature adjustments within the first few days or so of getting acclimated to all the great features of this unit. I had only one minor issue where the displayed indoor humidity shown on the display was about 7%-8% higher than my other humidistat units in my home. I was able to find "Offset Adjustments" in the Installer Menu that allowed me to make +/- adjustments to the displayed Temp. and Humidity. Once I adjusted and saved the new humidity settings, the 'stat has been spot-on within 1% of the other humidistats in my home. (My only real minor gripe is that the font used to display the indoor humidity is real small on the 'stat screen and you really have to be close to it to view it.) I also have nice remote visibility using the Honeywell app, which I also love, as I can check my home temp., make temp. adjustments and also set temp. alerts while away from home - very nice indeed! So, everything is working great and I hope to have several years of great service from this Honeywell Wi-Fi unit! I would also suggest checking around the internet on several platforms, as pricing/availability seems to vary quite a bit!
