Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lanterns, Johns, Geoff, Very Good, Book
    Dec 02, 2018
The Birth of The Red Lantern Corps. And the beginning of “Blackest Night”.
While trying to write this review I tried to give a plot summary without giving too much away. This book isn’t nearly as stand alone or as impressive as the previous installment “The Sinestro Corps War” Though it should be pointed out this book was focused more on universe building for the coming big event that most everyone associates Geoff Johns’ run, “Blackest Night”. However it does wrap up some stories that were started earlier on in this run, it even begins new ones. Those who want to read this installment should at least look at the previous installments to appreciate this story more. Those who do, should be pretty happy they did. Johns’ writing continues to be pretty good, some of the emotion that “Rebirth” and “Sinestro Corps War” is here, as Hal Jordan-Green Lantern faces more of his emotions, and The Green Lantern Corps is put through another personal trial. The art for this comic is consistently pretty good. Some impressive visuals here and settings, as we return to the evil world of “Ysmault” and are introduced to the home world of Ganthet and Sayd’s new Corps. This book is part 7 of 13 of Geoff Johns’ run on Green Lantern, and for what was intended as filler does a good job at keeping things interesting and getting the readers ready for what happens next.
Transformers Titans Return Overlord Decepticon Figure
    Dec 22, 2018
    A decent action figure.
Overlord for those who don’t know, was a decepticon leader, from the original Generation 1 toy line, who was never released in America, only in Japan, and later Europe. He appeared in the Anime “Transformers Masterforce”, he would battle a kind of sort of Powermaster Optimus Prime. This isn’t a bad action figure. It’s far from it, it has a few problems, though compared to others, it’s still stands up pretty well. The only problems I encountered with mine were that the figure suffers from loose joints in the shoulders, they will hold a pose, though if you’re moving it back in forth, it won’t keep the pose for long, and this was fresh out of the box. Otherwise the joints are fairly tight. The paint has slight issue, the colors look great, it’s that the paint can rub off in certain parts. The biggest sign of this I’ve seen was the paint on the handle of his gun, rubbed off while I was removing it from its place in Overlord’s tank mode. Of course it was a very tight fit, and I was afraid it would break if I wasn’t careful. otherwise, it’s accurate to the original toy, with each mode of this figure being based on or a direct representation of what the original toy could do. There are even subtle nods to the original’s unique use of having two powermasters to transform. The headmaster version here, is unique, and allows for joke “headswapping” for those who would want to do that. And if someone would like, could leave the head in place during the transformation, the only problem with it, is you don’t have a pilot for the tank or jet modes. I like this one, it looks good on display, especially if you have a Powermaster Optimus Prime, who could fill in for the character he fought in the Anime, which he comes from.
Superman And Batman: Generations 2 by Byrne, John Paperback Book The Fast Free
    Dec 12, 2018
    The Superman Batman Legacy Expanded.
For those who have read the first installment in John Byrne’s reimagining of the DC superheroes, the book before this one, may be disappointed to learn this book does not pick up where it left off, instead it expands on the first story, by going back to each decade before or after the selected years from the last series, to build this universe Byrne had reimagined. Where the last one had felt rushed towards the end, we got some segments dedicated to giving that ending more time to make the impact Byrne had intended. As well as give further context to the characters we knew so little of, that makes their fates more impactful to us as the readers, and extending the idea of the Hero’s legacy to other DC heroes, and their families. Byrne handles these things pretty well, especially with the founding of this universe’s Justice League of America, being a good reimagining of the team everyone associates the name with. The problems I have with this book ties into the first one, in terms of a timeline of what happens, as some dates could get confusing at times, makes me feel that there should be a collection of both stories printed in chronological order, to truly appreciate the whole story here. Though otherwise if you can get past that, the story and almost familial legacy added to the existing one(s) made me appreciate this interpretation of the DC superheroes more than I had before. The artwork isn’t Byrne’s best, though far from his worst, as his work here still hits all the right notes, especially in pacing and character’s expressions and reactions to the events that happen or have happened. Overall, this story is good for building on an existing story, and what we get here makes me appreciate the first story a lot more, for its complexities, and it’s ending. Overall I enjoyed reading this book, and appreciate the last one more.
