Make Way for Ducklings, by Robert McCloskey, 75th Anniversary edition.
This children's classic was first published in the early l940s, and has had subsequent reissues over time since its original publication. I was particularly interested in the 75th anniversary edition, as I collect classic children's books (anniversary editions). This book comes in a slipcase, and includes a full color poster of Boston, particularly Boston Common and its surrounds, as this is the setting for the story. There is also a CD with an oral rendition of the story. This book is an oversize copy, which was fairly common during the "golden age" of children's literature (the l930s and l940s). It has a book jacket with some information about the story and the author. Illustrations are in black and white, and are typical of the illustrations done in children's books of the time. It is a wonderful story, although its appeal to today's children may be limited.

The Story of Ferdinand
I collect classic children's books and special anniversary editions, of which The Story of Ferdinand is one. I was looking for the 75th anniversary edition, and was pleased to be able to find one on eBay. The copy that I received was in remarkably good shape. This story is multicultural before the term was in vogue. It is a nice story although I'm uncertain that it would have the same appeal to children's audiences today, compared to the era when it was written and published. I like the story, but I am a children's librarian and have had a couple of graduate level courses in children's literature.

A classic children's book and Caldecott award winner from the golden age of children's literature.
I was already familiar with this children's book, and was pleased to have been able to acquire the Diamond anniversary edition, as I collect anniversary editions of timely and award-winning children's books, of which this is one. The book itself was in great condition and may have had some imperfections ... but I didn't notice any. I was just happy to have gotten a copy of the edition I was looking for.
