Pretty good bang for the buck
2 of 4 found this helpful My first Mora. Not sure what I was expecting, given their reputation for "punching far above their weight class" but I was a bit underwhelmed.
I'd like to be able to say it arrived scalpel sharp. Many reviews gave me the impression these come out of the box super sharp but not mine. I laughed a bit after running my finger along the edge. I was somewhat saddened. Deflated as I was, it didn't take long to get it razor sharp. I like how easy this steel takes an edge. Can't remember now what it is, Sandvik I believe.
Anyway, yeah if you only have ten bucks to spend on a knife, I can recommend it. You can probably assume, given the simplicity of the design, plastic handle and all, you're just paying for the steel. With the more complex engineering of a folder, that same ten dollars isn't going to buy you much in the way of steel.
With the Mora, I feel like you're paying for pretty good steel but they throw in a handle AND a pretty good scabbard with that blade. But let's face it, it's still ten dollar steel. Not awful, and way better than most department store cutlery. Just don't have unrealistic expectations about this knife. Not sure why I did...
