Fx performance in a compact body
Just slightly larger than my D7000, the D600 Fx (full-frame) feels virtually the same to shoot. The image quality is very good. I purchased it with a single job in mind - copying 35mm negatives and slides using a T-Mount "Slide Duplicator" from the 1970s that I had in my closet. I had used it with the crop sensor D7000 with good results but the limited sensor size meant that many images had to be stitched together if I wanted the entire 35 mm frame to be visible. The full sized sensor on the D600 means a single exposure would encompass the entire frame. The D600 HDR mode works perfectly in conjunction with the slide duplicator. My transfers are very good. It turned out exactly as I had hoped. See the two example transfers.
I recently had an opportunity to use it along side my D7000 while on vacation. The image quality is virtually identical but the extra field of view afforded by the D600 made it an obvious choice for anything I wanted to shoot with a wider angle. I used the D7000 for telephoto shots. As the pixels per degree of FOV is the same between the two when using the same lenses this seemed to work out in a very natural way.
The only facet where the D7000 seemed better was in raw frame rate when shooting action pictures. It is about one frame per second faster than the D600.

Great measurement instrument!
Extremely flat response makes this mic ideal for its' intended purpose - measuring the frequency response of loudspeakers and sound systems.
