If 200mm Focal Length is Your Thing...
I find myself hardly using this lens. The image quality is fantastic, but you probably want to use this one with a tri-pod because many times your images are going to come out blurry if you were to hand hold use this 200mm. It's solid, built like a tank. Great lens, I would recommend for specialty purposes. See also the 135mm f2.8 Nikkor for easier hand-held shots. Overall, I would buy it again.

Big old beast. I love it.
2 of 2 found this helpful I love this camera. It's relatively fast autofocus (given it's age) and it's image quality make it a pleasure to use. Manual adjustments abound, making it feel like some true old-school photography. The F4 has modern matrix-metering so you're never really going to mess up your lighting situation (I mean, it IS possible) ... but it's good at correcting the things that you might miss. AF lock is awesome for certain situations, and this camera supports a whole slew of new and old Nikkor lenses. It is one of the most versatile cameras of all time when it comes to lens compatibility. If you like big, heavy cameras and film (and 4 frames per second with the standard battery pack) ... this camera is for you. It's a bargain at around 200 bucks today, when brand new it was over $2,000! (and that was in 1988!)
It's fun, its heavy and it gives great images and is satisfying to use. Get one! Get some film! Get out there!

Great value DX lens.
Great sharpness, quick autofocus, good in a low light situation. Not the highest quality being completely plastic, but if you’re not using it as a baseball, you should be fine. I keep the lens hood on mine for a little bit more protection. For the money, can’t beat it for your DX Nikon. If you’re just starting to explore prime lenses, you’ll be happy with the results of thing inexpensive lens.
