You get what you pay for

2 of 2 found this helpful Truly a pleasure to use. I have been playing at macro for quite a while using various simple techniques to keep the cost down. Whilst other methods can produce incredible images they require a lot of effort. With this lens for many subjects it is quite literally point and shoot. For standard close up the lens takes care of almost everything and when you need to get really close it is an excellent place to start from. Adding extension tubes and a reverse lens to the end can easily get beyond 2:1 macro where 12mm objects can fill the frame.

The right tool for the job
Exactly what I needed. I had been looking at the Flir E range of cameras when I happened across this. It is of a far more useful format that the more conventional gun type of device. The output is certainly more than adequate for my purpose and it is very portable as I can carry it in a pocket. My initial purpose was to detect issues with insulation in the property I occupy but it will be invaluable for diagnosing issues in other fields.
