The right tool for the job.
1 of 1 found this helpful The flaring tool itself is great. It makes the proper 45 degree flare for working with R410A Mini-split HVAC units. The eccentric design rolls the metal out to form a wonderful smooth deep flare. I have used flaring tools like this for years and have been in this line of work for 30 years. I know what works and what doesn't. The only thing about one of the kits that I bought was that the optional ratchet that comes with it sometimes slips on its gears. Any 3/8" drive ratchet can be used, so that is not a big deal. I personally do not use the ratchet when making my flares anyway.
Thanks, Old Man HVAC Trainer.

The right tool to do the job right.
Our company installs a lot of mini-split heat pumps. These units are connected with flare fittings that need to be torqued to a specific tightness. Too loose and they will leak. Too tight and they will leak. There are a lot of special tools that you should have to properly install mini-split units. This is one of them. it works as it should. No guessing. Easy to set up. Storage box keeps it clean and organized. If you want to call yourself a professional in the HVAC industry, this torque wrench or one like it, will be a part of your mini-split tool kit. If you do mini-split installs without the proper tools, you are just a hack that gives HVAC techs a bad name and you are cheating your clients.
