Yamaha R-N303 Network Stereo Receiver with MusicCast

Good Features, Mediocre Sound

This receiver was purchased to replace a 24 year old Yamaha receiver. Pros: Nice simple appearance, good features for the price, easy to set up, felt well built. I had it hooked up, connected to my wifi (through IOS share) and playing via AirPlay very quickly. Cons: the sound quality was disappointing. It sounded "leaner" than my old receiver that was rated at 80W vs this at 100W. Also it had a higher noise floor which I could hear at low volume levels. I may still recommend this if you have a basic audio system and you don't want to spend any more.

SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 Package (Premium Black Ash)

Quality surround sound

I have several SVS products and I enjoy all of them. The satellite speakers are solidly built and have clear sound. They are light on bass, so they need to be paired with the sub. The SB-1000 pro sub is impressive for it's size and the customization through the app is a nice feature.
